Information about the Australasia chapter
Overview
Working Group II of the IPCC is charged with assessing current knowledge about the impacts of and vulnerability to climate change, and options for adapting to inevitable future changes in climate. For the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5), it will deliver its findings in two parallel volumes. One volume will focus on fundamental principles and implications for different sectors at a global scale, while the second volume will assess impacts and adaptation on a regional basis, and also explore the links between adapting to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions at those regional, national and local levels. Chapter 25 in this regional volume will be dedicated to assessing impacts and adaptation options for Australasia, that is, Australia and New Zealand.
The corresponding chapter from the AR4 can be accessed here.

Opportunities for input to this chapter
The lead authors will hold informal consultations with the wider scientific communities in Australia and New Zealand during 2011 to assist with their assessment and writing process. For details please contact the coordinating lead authors, either Roger Kitching (Australia) or Andy Reisinger (New Zealand).
The expert and expert/government reviews of the First- and Second-Order Drafts provide the most important opportunities for experts (including those from industry, government and civil society) to provide comments on the drafts and suggest any changes, including references to additional relevant scientific publications that the authors may have missed. For more details on how to register as expert reviewer of IPCC reports, see here.
Additional information on the writing process for the Working Group II report, high-level outlines of chapters approved by governments, and authors of other chapters in this report, can be found on the home page of IPCC Working Group II.
