New Zealand's potential contribution to the IPCC's 5th Assessment Report

Date:
Tue, 08/12/2009 - 08:30
Venue:
Rutherford House Lecture Theatre 2, Victoria University of Wellinton, Wellington

Assessments by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have provided key inputs to international agreements on climate change. The IPCC is now planning its Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) with Working Group Report chapter outlines for this assessment being finalised in Bali in October 2009.

New Zealand scientists have provided substantial inputs to past assessment reports and have the potential to make a significant contribution to the AR5.

This one-day workshop will:

* Inform New Zealand scientists and other interested parties of the IPCC assessment process

* Present the approved AR5 chapter outlines and discuss areas in which New Zealand research can contribute significantly to the AR5

* Explain timelines by which researchers will need to have scientific papers published to meet AR5 deadlines

* Explain how the AR5 author nomination process will work and how potential authors can contribute to the AR5.
